A weekend in Melbourne

Each year at the end of November, The Australian Quilt Market is held in Melbourne. It is the only quilting industry trade show where fabric distributors and pattern designers share their new fabric lines and quilting projects.

Each year one distributor gets to bring out a guest speaker for the event. This year the guests were Jenny and Helen from Sew Kind of Wonderful, the creators of the quick curve ruler and the mini quick curve ruler. I attended their "teach the teacher" workshop and learnt the finer points of making different curved blocks and became #skwcertified It was a great day and Jenny and Helen were fantastic. Thanks to #twogreenzebras or organising the day, #brotheraustralia for the use of the sewing machines and #sewkindofwonderful for the great rulers. Classes using the rulers are scheduled for Summer School in January. Check out the new designs next time you visit

Each day before AQM opens there are show & tells to attend to see sneak peeks from designers, fabric distributors and suppliers. I use these as an opportunity to concentrate my visits to the stands when the show opens. Details of the new block of the months and other new programs will be released in the next newsletter an in the online store soon. If any of the photos in the slideshow below appeal to you, let me know and I will send you the information.

In regards to Christmas/New Year opening hours, we will be open daily 10am - 4pm weekdays and 10am - 3pm weekends. Closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day. We will be open late on Thursday January 3 for the Twilight Market and Summer Holiday classes start January 12, 2019. You can download the class list here

Cheers
