Jewels for the Home by Valori Wells is the showcase pattern for Day 6. Valori says “pillows are like jewelery for your sofa.” These simple stylish accents are the perfect solution to a quick and inexpensive home makeover without adding more stuff to a room. Instructions are included to make 10 different styles of cushions. All the backs are envelope style so zips are not required. The pattern is $20.

The fabric kit to make the cushions features fabric from the Red Essentials range. There is just over 4.5m of fabric in the kit, which is enough to make the fronts of all the styles and some of the backs. Extra cotton duck ($15 per mt) or quilters muslin($13 per mt) for the backs is available. Fabric kit G is priced from $92.50 - $95.80 as the quantity of fabric varies. For Day 5 the showcase pattern is Sarah’s Pincushions by Leanne’s House. This set of five pincushions features Leanne’s signature style of stitching, needleturn applique and finished off with ric rac trim. A great gift to stitch for friends or family. The pattern is $17.60.

Fabric for day 5 comes from Robert Kaufman and is called Ambrosia. The fabric was designed by Amanda Murphy and the prints are soft pink, green, blue, lemon and chocolate. The micro check is from the Palette Pleasures range by A Day in the Country and the Latte coloured quilters muslin is from the Emma Louise range. The stranded cottons I have chosen are from Valdani Threads. The colours are from their Muddy Monet series, if you like them there are 12 colours in the set. I will also be using them in a new block of the month later in the year. Fabric kit F includes 8 fat quarters of fabric and 4 Valdani Threads and is priced at $64.65. You will also need some ric rac ($1.85 per mt) to finish off the pincushions, I have several colours in stock including the ones pictured below. Today’s pattern is Bistro Betty from Busy Bee Quilt Designs. “Why settle for a boring bistro apron when you can be the cutest “Betty” in town?” asks Busy Bee! The apron is quick and easy with its classic style and reversible design and features a sassy ruffle and oversized pocket. The pattern is $12.
The fabric I have chosen for Bistro Betty is called Domestic Diva, which pretty much says it all. This vintage inspired fabric is perfect for the apron and you can even read some of the recipes! The day 4 fabric kit E is $32.40.

Today’s pattern is from Leesa Chandler Designs. The quilt is called Italian Mosaic. Leesa says “sometimes when you come across a fabric design, that just defies words, all you can do is buy it and then try to do it justice.” That’s how she felt when she saw the fabric used in the original. When I ordered the fabric range ‘Silent Cinema’ I had much the same thought. Now I have the perfect pattern to show off this amazing fabric. The quilt is 72″ x 72″ (183cm x 183cm) and the pattern is $13.50. Leesa’s instructions explain how to “fussy cut” your fabric to make the most of the design.

Day 3 Fabric kit D has fabric from the range ‘Silent Cinema’ for Freespirit fabrics. There is plenty of fabric included to allow you to fussy cut the main print and the smaller co-ordinating print. The soft greys and pinks with a splash of orange and lemon make the design look 3D. The also have an art deco feel about them. The kit is priced from $161.80 depending on which fabrics you choose for the backgrounds. I know some people like printed backgrounds and some like plain. I can go through the options with you. Details are on the website www.sewbright.com.au/leapinto2012.html

Fabric kit C includes enough fabric to make both the notemaker and glasses case and is priced at $27.45. Just finished making this bag from the Culture Club Cruise. I used the panel in the spice colourway and teamed it with the green collage from the Camelot range and used the spice medalllion in the lining. The bag stands up nicely with the help of Matilda’s Own Bag Batting. Kits are priced from $76.20 in the pictured fabric, batting is $11.95. Also available in the jewel colourway.
